Kosta Diamantis (Director, Office of School Construction Grants & Review, Department of Administrative Services, State of Connecticut) Spoke about the state partnering with New Fairfield at the Public Hearing. Below are his comments. (the entire video of the Public Hearing can be found on the Dig in Here page)
The design phase will take approximately 18 months and will be subject to both public review and state approval. Keep in mind that the cost of the project approved at referendum is the maximum allowable project cost. The final design must stay within that budget. All work after the referendum passes must go out to bid.
If you have taken this entire journey and are still not sure you need to support our schools, we would encourage you to go back to Start Here and find what you may have missed.
We are also providing additional information on the Information Tab.
We sincerely hope this information has helped you become an informed voter and we hope you will join us in voting YES for both new schools.
The town referendum for the school building projects is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 5, at Meeting House Hill School from 6am – 8pm. This date and time period will be finalized at a Town Meeting on September 26. If you are scheduled to be out of town on October 5 and intend to vote, please obtain an absentee application.
